Latest Entertainment: Nikita Mirzani’s party questions the video evidence that is the basis for the verdict
Nikita Mirzani’s attorney, Usman Lawara, protested regarding the validity of the evidence used by the Public Prosecutor (JPU) in the case that ensnared his client. He questioned the existence of the original video recording which was the basis for the verdict against the artist.
This problem arose after the attorney discovered a discrepancy between the facts at the trial and the decision files from the first level to the cassation. According to him, the evidence attached by the prosecutor so far was only screenshots, but in the judge’s consideration the evidence was written as if it were a live video recording.
“The prosecutor attached this. This is what he said was a live video recording. This is a screenshot, Boss, not a video. Where is the video? Media friends, do you still remember, was there a live video when it was shown at the South Jakarta District Court trial?” said Usman Lawara when met after the trial at the South Jakarta District Court, Wednesday (15/7/2026).
Nikita Mirzani considers this to be a mistake in handling the ITE case. Usman Lawara emphasized that a screenshot cannot represent the complete narrative of a long live broadcast. This is what underlies the belief that the client’s legal team has become victims of the judge’s error in deciding the case at previous levels.
“The evidence in the trial was related to screenshots, but in the decision it was considered as if there were live video clips. I said earlier, media friends have been following this trial process since the beginning, have you ever seen a video with a slanderous narrative shown at the first level trial? Is there one? It doesn’t exist at all,” he stressed.
Furthermore, the legal team referred to the testimony of expert witnesses presented previously. Experts say that in criminal cases originating from social media, complete account confiscation is mandatory.
“Experts say that if someone is prosecuted or charged with something like that, then their TikTok account must be confiscated in order to see the full videos in that account,” he explained.
Nikita Mirzani’s legal team hopes that the Panel of Judges at the PK level will be able to look carefully at the irregularities in this electronic evidence. They stated that the absence of an original video showing an element of threat or coercion should invalidate the charges related to Article 27B paragraph (2) of the ITE Law which was addressed to Nikita.
“If this is what the Cassation Judge considers to be a form of threat, this is an error on the part of the judge himself. Because in the video there is no threat to reveal secrets, it must be seen in court. But to this day we have never seen that,” he concluded.
