Latest News: 3 Political Parties Speak Up on the Aftermath of Doctor Icha’s Death

Three DPRD members of North Central Timor Regency (TTU) were involved in the death case of Dr. Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni alias dr. Icha (27). The three political parties that house DPRD members have also spoken out.
For your information, the incident started when two members of the TTU DPRD, Norbertus Tubani from PKB and Therensius Lazakar from the Golkar Party, came to the emergency room at Leona Hospital regarding the treatment of a child patient who was bitten by a green snake who was Therensius’ nephew. It is known that the patient was a referral from Kefamenanu Regional Hospital.
Based on the testimony of a number of witnesses at the location, the two DPRD members allegedly came smelling of alcohol and spoke in a high tone to Dr. Icha, who was carrying out medical duties at the time.

This incident is thought to have left Dr. Icha with deep trauma. He then underwent intensive treatment before finally being declared dead on Friday 26 June 2026.
Dr. Icha was found dead at his parents’ house, RSS Baumata Housing Complex, Kupang Regency, NTT, on Friday (26/6/2026) at around 18.00 WITA after undergoing medical treatment due to psychological pressure after allegedly being intimidated by members of the TTU DPRD while treating child patients who were victims of snake bites at Leona Hospital on Saturday (13/6).

Uncle and family spokesperson, Dr. Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni alias Doctor Icha, Fabianus Banase, will report to North Central Timor (TTU) DPRD members. Reporting regarding alleged intimidation which led to Icha committing suicide.
“We will definitely report it to the NTT Regional Police, but after the funeral tomorrow, because tomorrow the deceased will be buried at Liliba TPU,” said Fabianus, reported by detikBali, Monday (29/6).
There are three DPRD members who will be questioned. They are Veronika Lake from PDIP, Norbertus Bani from PKB, and Thrensius Lazakar from Golkar. TTU Police Chief, AKBP Eliana Papote, emphasized that he immediately summoned the three TTU DPRD members to ask for clarification.
Eliana also expressed her condolences to the family regarding Icha’s passing. “First of all, we from the North Central Timor Police (TTU), would like to express our condolences to the entire extended family of Dr. Icha’s family,” he explained when met at the funeral home in Kupang, Saturday (27/6/2026) evening.
According to him, although the family has not made a police report, this case is still being investigated. “We at the Police have not yet received a report. However, based on the viral news that has spread on social media, we have taken several police actions,” he said.
“We have taken information from Icha’s doctor friends, who were at the emergency room at the time of the incident,” added Eliana.

Deputy Chair of Commission IX of the DPR and General Chair of the DPP Perempuan Bangsa Nihayatul Wafiroh or Ninik strongly condemned the alleged intimidation carried out by two DPRD members of North Central Timor Regency (TTU), NTT, against Dr. Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni or Dr. Icha while she was on duty at the emergency room at Leona Hospital, Kefamenanu. Ninik confirmed that PKB had prepared disciplinary sanctions if its cadres were involved in intimidation.
“We all have a responsibility to ensure that health workers can work safely, without pressure or intimidation. Anyone who is proven to be abusing their position or power must be held accountable for their actions in accordance with applicable law,” stressed Ninik to journalists, Monday (29/6/2026).
Ninik emphasized that intimidating actions against health workers cannot be justified under any circumstances. Moreover, one of the parties suspected of being involved, Norbertus Tubani, is a PKB cadre.
“We deeply regret such barbaric acts, whoever the perpetrators are. There is no room for acts of intimidation against health workers who are carrying out humanitarian duties,” he said.

According to him, if these allegations are proven, Norbertus Tubani’s actions will not only violate his ethics as a public official, but also violate party discipline. Because of this, Ninik stated that PKB would immediately summon Nobertus Tubani for questioning.
“We will immediately summon the person concerned to tabayun. We ensure that the person concerned will receive disciplinary sanctions from the party if he is proven to be involved,” he added.
PDIP will take firm steps if its cadres are proven to have allegedly intimidated Dr. Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni or Dr. Icha while on duty at the emergency room at Leona Hospital, Kefamenanu, NTT. PDIP will take maximum sanctions if its cadres in the DPRD of North Central Timor Regency (TTU) are involved in intimidating a victim to the point of death.
“Processed according to the violations committed by the person concerned, and if it is proven that intimidation and bullying will be given sanctions, the party will give sanctions,” said PDIP DPP Chairman Djarot Syaiful Hidayat to journalists, Monday (29/6/2026).

Djarot said sanctions would adjust to the level of violation. The heaviest sanction, according to him, is up to dismissal.
“Sanctions are according to the level of the violation, they can be verbal, written, or even dismissal,” said Djarot.

Golkar Secretary General (Sekjen) Muhammad Sarmuji said that his party was investigating the involvement of a member of the North Middle East (TTU) DPRD, Therensius Lazakar, who was suspected of intimidating doctor Icha to death. Sarmuji said that the Golkar Provincial DPD had scheduled summons to related parties.
“For the NTT case, we will look into it. Of course we have assigned the Provincial DPD to summon the person concerned. Last night I also WAd the Chair of the Provincial DPD to summon and he will be summoned as soon as possible, it could be today, it could be today,” said Sarmuji at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (29/6).
Sarmuji reminded every cadre not to act arbitrarily. He mentioned that the positions obtained come from and must be accountable to the people.
“So, we are giving directions, and I have often said this. All public officials, especially those from Golkar, should take care of themselves. Ojo dumeh, don’t just act like you have a high position and then act inappropriately towards people below you,” said Sarmuji.
Golkar said it would hear clarification from a number of parties. His party will investigate the alleged intimidation.
“Yes, look into it first. We also have to listen to both sides. Is it true that there was intimidation and whether that intimidation led to someone’s decision to take action like what happened yesterday,” he said.
This DPR RI member then responded to the statement by the Regent of North Central Timor (TTU), Yosep Falentinus Delasalle Kebo, who mentioned that DPRD members often create chaos due to the influence of alcohol during recess. Yosep said that Doctor Icha’s case opened the veil.
“There will always be, of the thousands of DPRD members in Indonesia from all parties, there will definitely be those like that. And our job is to make them orderly, yes,” he added.
