Latest News: Residents Enthusiasticly Participate in Sundanese Tatar Milangkala Cultural Parade in Bogor
The cultural parade was attended directly by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, Regent and Mayor, as well as figures in West Java. The carnival series included 30 arts and culture representatives from 27 cities and districts in West Java, as well as representatives from Jakarta, Banten and Central Java.
The Binokasih crown as a symbol of kingship in West Java is specially paraded using a golden carriage. Residents were seen filling the entire route passed by the cultural parade.
The series of parades started from the Pajajaran Museum on Jalan Batutulis, passed Jalan MP Sidik and ended at Jalan Surya Kencana with a distance of around 3.5 kilometers.
The Mayor of Bogor, Dedie A Rachim, said that the Mahkota Bino Kasih carnival and arts and culture in Bogor City were a series of Sundanese milangkala Tatar, or the anniversary of the birth of the Sundanese civilization in West Java.
“This is also a series of activities that are full of meaning. Meaning about how we appreciate the legacy of our ancestors,” said Dedie when met after the event, Friday (8/5/2026) evening.
“Bogor was mentioned as one of the places where Sri Baduga Maharaja resides, including previously he ruled from Bogor City, from Pakuan Pajajaran. Of course there are many philosophies, many things that we can learn as lessons for the future,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Regent of Bogor, Rudy Susmanto, said that the Bino Kasih crown presented in a series of parades reminded the public of a Sundanese kingdom that first developed West Java.
“The point is that tonight we are quite proud. We are honored that the Governor of West Java was present, the King of Sumedang was present, then cultural figures and traditional figures were all present,” said Rudy.
“The Binokasih crown, which is also a symbol of the glory of Pajajaran, has also returned to its home in Bogor City. Because in reality, Bogor City, Bogor Regency, Depok City were once one, then they expanded,” he continued
Rudi said that West Java continues to develop in the modern era, but has not abandoned Sundanese history and traditions. The Bogor Regency Government has now formed a new department, as a step to support the preservation of historical and cultural sites in Bogor Regency.
“Of course we both want to build a nation together, but this nation is advanced, this nation is modern, we West Javanese have never abandoned our traditions as Sundanese people,” said Rudy.
“The concrete form we support is that the Bogor Regency Government has formed a new service, called the Culture Service. So, the Culture Service itself is one of them, we want to preserve all cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, in Bogor Regency,” he added.
