Latest News: Puan asked for additional discourse of political party funds from the APBN to be examined

The Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament Puan Maharani responded to the proposal of the addition of political party funds sourced from the state budget. Puan said the proposal was related to the spirit of eradicating corruption.
“The proposed political party funds are the point, the context is so that there is no, anti -corruption,” Puan said at the Indonesian Parliament Building, Jakarta, Sunday (5/25/2025).
Puan continued, this proposal still needs to be studied again. Especially, he said, related to the adequacy of the state budget and whether the proposal could be realized quickly.
“We have to look in the future whether the APBN budget is sufficient, whether then it can be done quickly, yes we first see what the study is like,” he said.
Previously, the KPK leaders were known to propose to the government that political parties would be given large funds. This funding is given using the APBN.
“The KPK has given recommendations to the government several times to provide large funds to political parties, funding recommendations to political parties. So that political parties are financed from the APBN,” KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto in the thematic webinar of anti-corruption education Corruption: Learning from the E-KTP ‘online scandal through the KPK Youtube channel, Thursday (5/15).
Head of the Presidential Communication Officer (PCO) Hasan Nasbi said the idea could be discussed. Because, he said, President Prabowo Subianto has a serious commitment in eradicating corruption.
“Yes, what is clear is that the president has a very serious agenda to eradicate corruption. And this is also part of Asta Cita, eradicating corruption. So, ideas to eradicate corruption can be discussed,” Hasan told reporters at his office, Central Jakarta, Monday (5/19).
